School Chaplain: The Rev’d Rachel Chapman

The Rev’d Rachel Chapman began ministry at St Martin’s Church as a Family Worker whilst studying for a Post Graduate Degree in Theology. She became School Chaplain at St Andrew’s School after moving into the formation programme for ordination. The following year, she started as the Family Worker at St Andrew’s Church, was made Deacon at the end of that year, and after another year was ordained as a priest. She has held many roles in Family, Youth and Young Adult Ministry and general parish ministry in the Parish.

Chaplaincy at St Andrew’s School is exciting and varied. Some of Rachel’s work involves leading weekly worship for the students, classroom teaching and pastoral care. St Andrew’s School also has close relationships with Bolton Clarke Residential Care and Anglicare SA.

Rachel is passionate about building and strengthening relationships between the Parish and School as well as the wider community.

The Church

St Andrew’s is a friendly, welcoming Christian community in the Anglican tradition.

Like Saint Andrew in the Bible, we want to make a difference for God. We want to reach people with the life-giving message of Jesus Christ and support our local and global community.

We value our heritage as an Anglican Church which has played a significant part in the life of the community of Walkerville since worship first began in 1848. We respect our continuity with the past, yet we, with God’s help, reach out to the generation of today. This is shown in the quality of our buildings: a combination of the beautiful heritage Church attached to the more recently built Parish Centre, both situated in beautiful surrounds.

The Bells of St Andrew’s ring out each Sunday over the houses of Walkerville and call young and old to come together to worship in a happy, friendly, caring and spiritual community.
